Alka-Seltzer XS Tablets

For rapid relief from headache with upset stomach. Alka-Seltzer XS contains two pain relieving agents to help relieve headache. It also contains an antacid to calm an upset stomach and buffering agents which empty the stomach to aid relief. Also suitable for relief of mild to moderate pain such as migraine and period pains, rheumatic and muscular pain and the symptomatic relief of colds and flu

Alka-Seltzer XS must always be dissolved in water before taking. Adults and children aged 16 and over: 2 tablets in water every 4 hours as required. Maximum 8 tablets in 24 hours. The dosages should not be continued for more than three days without consulting your doctor.

Effervescent tablet containing: Aspirin 267 mg, Paracetamol 133 mg, caffeine 40mg Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate 1723mg, Citric acid 954mg. Sodium content 472mg per tablet.

Do not take Alka Seltzer if you are allergic to aspirin or to any other ingredients, have a stomach or duodenal ulcer, have haemophilia or are pregnant or breast feeding. Avoid if you are on a high dose of methotrexate, 15mg per week. Speak to your doctor before taking Alka Seltzer if you suffer from Asthma. Aspirin has also been associated with increased risk of Reye's Syndrome when given to children with a fever. For this reason the use of aspirin is not recommended in children under 16 years of age. You should ask your doctor before taking aspirin if you are taking any other medicines including those for blood clots (thrombosis) such as warfarin or gout such as probenecid.
